Fitted a new HD indicator flasher unit a few days ago...supposed to be ok with a trailer...not tested that yet.

My old unit had 3 terminals...this one has 4...connected in what I think is the correct way and it works fine with one terminal unconected...whats the 4th one for?...its a bit quite on the waring tick.

But even when the flasher is not switched to turn I can hear it ticking like the indicators are on...anybody any ideas why it keeps ticking even thought its not set to turn...no lights flash when its doing this.

Can you post pic of the connections on the flasher, is it a landrover unit ?
4th terminal should be for dash repeater light when trailer fitted to show it is in use.
I have a defender one fitted.49 12v in 31 earth 49A to indicator switch C2 to repeater lamp.

I will get a picture of it tomorrow...it came in a dreaded blue box...at first I though Mmmmm works well 1st good Brit Part stuff thats been ok....then I noticed the constant ticking which is very annoying.

So I take it the feet to the dash repeater is optinol and can be left unconnected if not needed...is that correct.

Its been well over 20 years since I have had to dabble with flasher units and they where all made by Lucas then.

Yeah if lamp not fitted cannot test for MOT , don't think they test tow socket electrics at all.
I wired it in as I have no low fuel switch on tank sender and had spare lamp available.

you need the indicator lights working for the mot, do you need to have all switches labelled as well, as in mine i have nothing labelled so if anyone goes and steals mine car theyll have a hard time trying to start it, in the centre of the dash i have my horn push button that looks like a starter button so hopefully they'll push that as i have 3 horns fitted, 1 electric that i found on the ground after the floods we had in 2013 and two air horns, she sucks up 15-20 amps so i can only blast it for a short time.

so what do you's think of the dash set-up, oh and guess the odd thing out in the picture??

Tony.

Had a look at the new flasher unit tonight...no markings on any of the 4 spade terminals....my wire are green a black which I think I may have added as an earth and the is also a second green.

I have removed the new flasher unit now I will take it back...I have fitted the old rectangular 2 spade unit...but I know that wont flash a set of indicators on a trailer.
