Check you have fitted the brake switch properly.

When you say properly that brake lights work and the plug is on and it's twist locked into place am I missing something?

The brake switch has two switches in it. One contact is made and the other one is opened when brakes are applied or released. If it has not been fitted correctly and they are at any time both made you will get an ABS fault.

Okay I see the logic of that but how do I set it up and what is rave
RAVE is the bible on all things Land Rover.
Look in Range Rover "Technical Section" and you will find links to a download. Basically an application on DVD/CD ISO file format with everything you wanted to know.

Pull the plunger out all the way. Refit and then it will adjust itself as you use the pedal.

Read RAVE though. You'll be list without it.

ABS light only goes out above 5 mph .. . Or maybe 5 mph.

The abs light goes out fine and some journey s I have know warning light for the abs come on at all but if sat in traffic holding the brake pedal down up pops the fraze abs fault and the abs light stays on the silly thing is that the brakes still work fine and so does the abs lol I will down load the RAVE from technical but I'm really worried about this as the mot is at the end of Jan so I'm in full fault finding mod

Mine is a 1997 I will try the sensor thing tomorrow and also refitting the brake switch and fingers crossed I don't think mine has traction control it has been converted to coils springs I don't know if that makes any difference.

Coil conversion makes no difference. As the ABS light goes out above 5mph, it's unlikely to be the wheel sensors IMO. Brake switch is the place to start.

well I will remove the new one i put in make sure the plunger is all the way out and then replace it, is there any other advice does the pedal have a stop that needs adjusting in any way

When you replace the switch with the plunger pulled out, hold the brake pedal down fit switch then let pedal up and it should set its self.
