@Hippo
I have replaced the burnt wiring loom in my Freelander 1 TD4 ( just the main loom and the dash loom , not the engine loom as that wasn't damaged) , I suspect I have an immobiliser fault, the fuel pump runs and the engine cranks but doesn;t start .
My question is..........would the intank fuel pump run and the engine crank if the immobiliser was at fault ?

Immobiliser disables cranking and also injectors

I’ve had immob fault which has allowed cranking but not starting

Which circuit (s) were the cause of the localised heat issue?

Did yer remember to connect the immobiliser? It's located towards the left of the steering wheel, to the right of the radio, behind the dash.

How many times did yer switch the ignition on/off before trying to start the engine? Yer can stop it starting by doing this too many times. I did this with me v6. Got error code P1666 and it wouldn't start. Disconnect battery negative, wait 10 seconds, then fit battery negative. Started ok. Just deleting the P code on it's own doesn't allow it to start.

Thanks guys ........sorted it now ......I didn't realise theres a fuel pump under the wheelarch LOL
