Hey am new here. Recently had to replace the rear window glass, rear indicator lense and rear tail gate handle. apparently now my fl1 has gone into a "anti theft mode". The led light on the dash is continuously on and it wont turn over. Also my immobiliser wont respond wen I press. Tried to put it on the computer but it not pickin the fault. Is that that the rear tail gate handle is chipped hence it caused the computer to enter into the anit theft mode? How can I reset it so that its able to start. Its a FL1 2.0tdi

Hello and welcome to the forum also feel free to introduce yourself next. Are you able to disconnect the battery safely do so. Also if you have the fob key handy when you refit the battery back after 30 mins to 1hr. This will allow the computer to discharge and star a fresh. Next once refitted press the fob key 5 times quickly to activate the rf syncing for door locks.

Thanks for the reply saxavordian. But when I tried your procedure nothing happened. Which button on the fob dobi press - the one for opening o closing? Also should I have the key in the ignition? Where is the fob signal receiver located so that maybe I place the fob right next to the receiver(just thinking). Regards mel

More information is needed.
What year is the Freelander?
Was the remote locking working before doing the work at the rear?
Have you checked all the fuses in both fuse boxes?
How old is the battery in the fob?
Have you tried the spare key fob?
Has the vehicle battery gone flat?

Oh yeah. Its a 1998 fl 2.0td. The remote locking was working ok until that day.
Have tried both fobs which were working before the incident happened to no avail. The battery on the car is a new battery replace recently and I have no doubt its fully charged. Have check all the fuses one by one on both the fuse box trays and all are ok.

So are you saying that the remote locking isn't working, as well as the immobiliser being active?
Was the vehicle in an accident?

No response from the fob but before the fitting of the items mentioned above all was working well. It was hit from the back a couple of years back but everything was working until that fateful day. Say if I had to buy a used ecm off ebay can It start will need to have the ecm reprogrammed to work with my FL. I need it done asap. Thanks

Hey. Called someone to check it today. Discovered that the ccu was faulty. Hes managed to fit another 1 and reprogram the fob. But now it will start for a couple of seconds and go off. Ive tried several times and its behaving the same. What could be the problem?

That's an immobiliser not programmed to the engine ECU. Or the ECU isn't getting the immobiliser code, so shuts the engine down again after its started.
