Hello,
I am in the middle of removing the steering column and steering box on my 1975 petrol 88.

The manual says 'use a centre punch on the sheer bolts that pinch the ignition switch to the steering column and then use an easy out to remove the sheer bolt's.

Well, that is an easy statement to make!

So, has anyone got experience of removing the ignition switch the could share please. I can't see how I can get a starter hole in the sheer bolt's as they both have been sheered off 'ragged'.

Thoughts gratefully received.

Just drill em out and bang in another bolt when rebuilding. They take all of 20 seconds to drill out so not a massive security feature.

Cheers me dears - I've had lovely afternoon with a small point chisel to tap them out (very slowly it seems) but they are out with treads intact.
So, no more shear bolt's going back in. Just regular bolt's - whatever size these are, so I can get them out again if needs be.

8mm if I remember. Use hex heads most people would not carry Allen keys ;)
2hrs with a fine point punch and they are out. Going with hex head replacements
