Well my poorly freelander went in to be fixed last weekend... we got a call to say its just the rear diff, the ird etc is all fine. Yay I thought, we don't have to sell spares or repairs, or break it! So the newly bought but s/h rear diff was delivered to the garage today... call received from garage this morning... the part was knackered! Shards of metal or something clearly in it, and it made a wooing noise etc etc etc...

So still no car.... the bill already is upto about £350 just collection and labour for stripping it/investigating etc.. the s/h diff cost £200 delivered... so thats £550!! when we called the place we got the part from, they said oh.. well we haven't got anymore, we will pick it up on saturday and then refund you! So now have to find another one, which I can't find one with a warrenty, or confirmation of what it came from etc, as been told it has to come from a diesel one.

Do they not CHECK the parts are working BEFORE putting them up for sale!?!?!? They are not held responsible for wasted labour etc etc... obviously! I want to scream!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So fees from repair garage will prob go up as will now be sat there in bits for days until I find another, which again may also end up a crock of brown stuff!!! !!!

AAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Can't afford this car anymore!!!!

Rant over :p

Ashcroft Transmissions £495 recon
Bell Engineering £325 recon (6mnth Warranty)
Do breakers test parts?............No!!!
A similar thing happened to me with an engine 20yrs ago. It took 3 attempts to get a servicable one from the breaker.
Good Luck
