what help would you like ? buy a good old range rover or any other landrover except Freelander and you'll have fun.

Bit more info needed please nessance.

Is it just a toy you want?
Whats the budget?

You can pick yourself up a nice V8 Range Rover Classic for about a £1000-00, stick a set of mud tyres on it and you'll be ready to start.

thank you all for your reply
I do wanto go offroading.Part of it is that i used to do this in the Egyptian deserts "not familiar with your offroading" and i love to explore and socialise .Ideally i wanto tag along and get a grip of whats going on. Would it be possible to go off roading with a hired car and tag along with you if you arrange anything in hertfordshire ?
If not i am willing to buy a 2nd hand car nothing expensive at all but efficient .If i do get into it i will buy a nicer one. My budget is around 2 k with a bit of flexibility.

A kick start from all of you would be great

thanks

Fishface is right: you can pick up older Range Rovers for under £2000 and they're ready to off-road and drive you to the shops. The main problem is the fuel consumption.
Early Discoveries are now coming onto the market for around £2000 but you need to be quick to find them and careful you don't buy a wreck that's been given a quick polish.
You could always get yourself a series vehicle - great fun and a REAL Land Rover - but you have to be prepared for the experience (pram springs, pathetic "heater", tiny windscreen wipers, gaps along the doors etc.)
Whatever you do, don't buy a J**P! :p
