After shearing 4 out of 5 of my nearside rear ones then I desperately need to get hold of the bolts that hold the sticky out bit in the centre of the wheel that holds all the gubbins inside...

According to the workshop manual they are called "Drive member retaining bolt" but my local Landy place didn't have any in :(

Any ideas where I'll be able to get any sharpish?

They are number 6 on this diagram

M10x80 8.8 rings a bell might be shorter not so sure. youshould be able to get them from any allfast suppliers take one down with you for a match

if you do got to a general fasteners place dint let them sell you bolts that are made from cheese

they aint M10 mate, maybe M8... they take a 13mm socket on them i think

Some replacement ones from paddocks and the like have a 13mm head to stop less cleaver people over tightening them and they also give a bit more clearance when using alloys on the front but they are indeed M10. Or as stated before 3/8 UNF but that was really really early ones I thought. Make sure the bolts you buy arerated at 8.8 or 10.9's otherwise like sean said they will sell you some cheap shiny bolts made of play dogh. Jai

Always check what bolts do.
These ones do not just hold all the gubbins in place. These actually transmit the drive.

The splined drive shaft forces the small outer hub (part 4) to turn.
Part 12 is the inner rotating hub the wheel bolts on to.
The question is this - what transfers the torque of driving from part 4 to part 12?

Looks like six little bolts in SHEAR to me.
Make sure you get high quality high tensile bolts, and use a torque wrench I reckon.

All sorted :)

Managed to get my other car on the road this morning (long story) to get out and find some. The local Landy main dealer didn't have them in stock - what a suprise, 3rd thing I've tried to get from them and 3rd thing they haven't had in stock  But... they told me about another independant place near me that I didn't know about :D

They didn't have any new ones either but phoned me back to say that I could have the ones off a used axle they had. Went and got them and they are now fitted to my Landy so I'm back on the road at last :D:D:D

Cheers

Richard
