Hi all. I'm sure this will be considered a simple task but for novices like me it's not immediately obvious how to complete this simple task. Especially if you've owned a Disco 1.
I've taken some pics at the pertinent stages, so I hope this will help.
You will need: a small flat head screw driver (possibly some needle nose pliers too), broad headed posi screw driver, correct size Torx socket and WD 40 or other easing oil. If I subtract the time for getting the tools together due to my house being a well camouflaged black-hole, the job takes about ten to fifteen minutes....but we are talking changing a bulb here so....thank you LR...it's crap.
Open bonnet. (always a good start)
Using a small flat head screw driver, pry up middle of the plastic fixings on top of the grill and ease them out. There are three, left, middle and right. Other posts have mentioned these breaking so take it easy.
Carefully lift out the grill. It has two long-ish pegs at each end so again, take it easy. Mine had already had a peg broken as I found when I lifted it out.

On top of the head-light unit there are two Torx bolts so you need Torx sockets to get them out. Recommend a soak with WD40 while you have a cuppa and consider how well the jobs going before it all goes pear shaped.

Remove the two Torx bolts and then at the grill side of the unit you will see a small clip cover. Open this and you will see a posi-drive screw fixing. Luckily I had a fairly chunky size screw driver handy as it's not the smallest size screw head.
Again, be careful as I found the right angle retaining clip on my nearside light was already snapped.

Lift the unit out and carefully disconnect the wiring plug. Each bulb has a screw back cover. Just rotate it and it will come free. In the case of the sidelight, it was a simple case of gently pulling the bulb holder out, switching the bulbs and reversing the whole process.
