How the hell do you remove handbrake cable from backplate on discovery 1

Please can someone tell me how to free the bloody hand brake cable from the back plate on a discovery 1 v8

If it is the same as on D2 then something like this:
There is a plastic clip (arrowed) which should be pushed on the sides by your finger and it should come out.

Thanks buddy, it is very similar looked at replacement cable and the piece that clips into back plate is metal and I've been advised is easyier to snap it off .
But thank you for your help
