Hi hope this is the right area to post this , im after a disco so on the lookout for something decent (which is difficult at the mo) but looks like no matter what i get its gonna have some rust issues brewing.

just wondering whats the costs like of have this fixed eg boot floor , inner sills etc , i know it vareies bu just a rough cost .

also im fairly handy and done a bit of welding long time ago would it be a fairly straight forward job of diy welding ? or am i barking up the wrong tree cheers

Most of it is very basic DIY welding if you can weld.
Get the best you can and check the sills, boot floor, body mounts and inner arches as these are the most notorious.
Most panels are available and cheap enough I put a boot floor on my last disco and it cost me about 80 quid plus my time.

Yeah, as above really. The sills are box section so are simple to make patch repair panels yourself. The upper sections of the pillars are a little harder, but nothing too complicated. The boot floor must be one of the easiest things to weld, once you've cut out the old one the new one can just sit there, tack weld the bits you can reach, then sit inside the boot and weld it up around the edges.

thanks guys this is whats tempting me to a disco , i know they have a bad reputation but i hear thing are straight forward on them , im sick of bloody needing a computer to know whats wrong....

where do you source your panel parts from ? ebay ?

cheers

that discos need a bit of welding every now and again ( year?) is as true as saying that MP's are bent and merchant bankers are, well, merchant bankers.

satying that they are real easy to wrok on
