How do I stop my email box from filling up with landyzone emails?

G'day Folks,

I'm interested in the "Alerts" and would like to see them when I log in, but don't really want an email each time something happens.

I know I'm new and it is really nice to be here but I think I can survive for a little while with out an update from this forum - I'm not of the arsebook spaceface generation so I can do with out attention for a surprising length of time!

So any way to turn of the emails?

Oh crap - I just saw the "receive email notifications" check box - now I'm gonna be emailed when someone replies...

...bugger - how do I "turn back time" with out several face lifts and getting a few ribs removed?

Where is the e-mail notifications thingy?

To disable all of the notifications click on "Watched Threads"

Then there's the "Manage Watched Threads" drop down menu =>



Then you get the choices of "Stop watching threads" or "disable email notification"



So that (I think) does them all.

If you want to opt out of some email notifications but not all it looks like if you select the threads you want altered and then bottom left hand corner use this drop down menu =>

Any chance of changing the defaults to not have the automatic email option every time I post in someone else's thread?

Must be because you've been here for longer and your settings are different.

I can't find the right tick box in my preferences to stop these pesky emails - except one that seems to stops all emails from landyzone so administrators can't get to me either!

Maybe - maybe not. What is apparent is that neither of the owners give a fig about running this site.

If you leave me for long enough I sort it out for myself!

I think I've got it now.

Hover over your user name with your mouse pointer for the drop down menu and choose preferences



Then you should see this page =>


You can also get to this page grouping on your own "home page" in which case you need to click on to preferences first.

The answer is that email notification control is also in the "Preferences" and not just the "Alert Preferences"

I'm hoping I've now found the magic tick box and that I've now managed to achieve what I want.

I'll start a new thread and reply to someone else's and then see if I did indeed find the solution.

It does work. Thank #$#$# for that - it was getting irritating.

The check box under the reply box / post a new thread box now has the "and automatically receive emails" tick box un-ticked.

All is good in the world.
