Hi Guys,
I a Newbie RR owner (6 mnths). Owned Nissan Patrols for the past 11+ years, & decided to try the "King Of 4x4's", though now having serious misgivings. As I am a DIY guy (Hate rip-off garages...main dealerships even more!) I've always done 98% of my own work on my cars. However....My RR failed it's MOT yesterday on one (yes One) item only! The hazard switch not working/broken ...since the indicators are fine. I was told this is common with all the RR dash switches because they are crap & badly designed for the purpose of multi-use! So, ordered a new switch for £8.00...but here it comes.......how the hell does the old switch come out?? Do I have to take out the whole dash? Where do I start with that mammouth task? Help please guys. I can't believe I'm housebound because of a poxy switch!!!! Thanks.

There's the right way - and life's abit short to write that here but it involves stripping out half the interior - or
the switches push in from the front, you could try prising / pulling the switch out. As you don't care about the switch try to damage that rather than the dash surrounding it.

If you want the right way either download RAVE or PM me.

Thank you guys. I will start with the "Attack from the front" If that proves a problem, I will ask you for the diagram etc.....(or maybe you can pop over to Suffolk for the day to do it for me...as much coffee & sandwiches as you want!!) Lol.
Cheers again:D

Welcome to Rangie land. Patrol was a good truck but it's just that, a truck :p

Search for one on ebay to get a good look at how it catches into the hole. Use two feeler guages above and below the switch. Very effective.

Ok. well, thanks for the advice guys. Tried the feeler gauge method first.. Doh!! The Red cover shot off & the switch then dissapeared inside/behind the panel!! So then attempted to remove said panel & discovered half the screws were inaccessable (Unless I had 14" long fingers & a hand span of 3.5" ) But removing radio screws & left side panel screw, I was able to pull & access top left of switch panel, enabling me to retrieve old switch connect new one and put back, (Though now half the panel/ side panel will not go back!! However, long story shorter, Bloody hazard lights still don't work!! Nor do the front fogs & now my windows only work when the feel like it??? So, (Begs Humbley) where do I go from here? Many thanks again for your expertise & experience.:)

Thanks Spud. read below what happened !! Ref: Patrols, I think the "truck" feel/aspect/size is what I miss. I don't feel anywhere near as safe in the Rangie, (nor is it even close on luxury interior feel) or "Silent" cruising, and the space, but then the Rangie is a 2.5 DSE so basic & noisy is a given I guess. I havn't yet sold my last Patrol (a GR SGX 4.2 Special Edition Full 8 Seater) so am still torn. (The missus obviously prefers the Rangie......mainly the school playground effect! Lol) But the Patrols have always been such a doddle to work on.. Hence.............. Cheers.

My hazard switch stopped working today also and thought it would just be an easy fuse fix but can't see a fuse for it so I now watch with interest on how you get on before i start repairing mine.

Hi Goodfella'
I agree, If your indicators are still ok (No hyper flashing ) then it's not the relay.I couldn't find a fuse either!! But trust the Guys on here, within a day or so they will have come up with an array of reasons/fixes. They are brilliant & patient with newbies like us:eek: (far better than trying to get any decent info out of the Main Stealerships)
So watch this space.:blabla:
