So I finally got some time to take a closer look at my gear selection issue (can't engage 1st; 3rd; or 5th).

I popped the two ball joints off the mechanism where it connects to the gearbox and can manually select all gears. Popped them back on again and can't select 1st; 3rd ; or 5th again. Pretty obvious then that something's wrong with the linkage.

From underneath the car I can see the linkage rods connecting to the gear stick and then running to the back of the engine bay. I can see they then run across to the gearbox. Disconnecting at the gear stick end seems fine and disconnecting at the gearbox is fine, I just pop the ball joints again but how on earth do remove the bits in between? I can't even reach them let alone remove them. I know I really need to remove the belly pan (I haven't done so yet) but even then I don't think I'm going to be able to get anywhere close enough to have a proper look at how it all connects.

I've tried RAVE but all it says is "Remove rod from vehicle" after popping the ball joints - it's no help at all.

Anyone done this job before? Anyone know of a guide or vid that'll show me how?

Many thanks

Fritz

EDIT: I can't seem to find the part either (Rimmers; Etc.)
