I know of a place in Hull that does em. After all the only thing that has changed is that the mot tester enters the details online. instead of just on a bit of paper. There's nowt to stop em from passing a rust bucket by simply saying that it's passed the tests. when it wouldn't have in real life.
and when VOSA audit that days tests and select the rust bucket as their test sample the tester and the garage can kiss their living goodbye
garages around here often find a vehicle tested 20 minutes ago being driven back to their garage by a VOSA man who will go through the test results with a fine tooth comb - if anything is missed they get penalty points - if they reach a certain number of points it's curtains
any tester who produces dodgy certs these days won't be testing for very much long - rightly so
And out of all the cars they do pass, what's the chances of a VOSA inspector catching it? Specially in the backwaters of Scotland.
Not recent, but I bought a totally unroadworthy heap from a copper in Streatham... with a brand new MoT. No problem as all I wanted was the MoT and some relatively rust-free bodywork to transfer all the bits to. I suspect that any nice policeman who is "known" to the tester won't have much trouble, even now.you may be right - but VOSA will only need to catch them doing it once and it's game over
but in a busy place like Oxford .........
