Hi
Can someone please help me. I am trying to disconnect the hill descend system on my Freelander 1 2004.
No matter what I disconnect/remove/ cut the fault light still comes on intermittently. I don't require it.

Welcome to Landyzone if you skip over to the Freelander section you may get a better response.

You can't remove it as it's part of the ABS system. Just don't press the switch, if you don't need it.

If the fault light is on, then you need to get the codes read to find out what's wrong.

To disable you can just pull the connector off the switch. This does not throw any error codes (on my '99 at least).

However, it appears you do not want to disable it. It appears you have a fault in the system and you want to get rid of the HDC Error light.

There are only 2 ways to perform this (1) as nodge says, read the fault codes and fix the problem, or (2) remove the HDC Error bulb.

Depending on the year, there may be a third option, that is to cut the wire from the ABS ECU to the HDC Error pick up on the dash. On my '99 there is a specific wire to do this. On later models it may be a message down a bus and therefore not possible.

You don't mention if it is petrol or diesel. If petrol try slacking the throttle cable at the throttle body (don't ask why as I don't know)
If all else fails taking the dash out takes about 10 minutes, another ten to dismantle it and some magic black, light fixing tape will sort the issue.
Don't ask how I know.
