Hi everyone I have bought a freelander 1 with a 12mth mot but something isn't right. Tyre tread on limit. Slight knock over big bumps on off side. I was told 4x4 works perfect then the morning after purchasing I looked underneath to find no prop shaft. I payed £1000 for it. Not sure if av been ripped off. But I love it so I want a mechanic who won't rob me to look over it and advice me on what needs fixing also fit me a prop shaft if I purches one.. it's going to be my family vehicle so want it safe.
Thanks in advance

Ooops, removing the rear prop usually means trouble, did the seller mention it,normal excuse is,i removed it to get more mpg in two wheel drive, load of nonsense.PS,move this post over to the freelander section, otherwise you will get the pee taken.

I am new to this sorry I will try to move it. I have no idea how though and no the seller said nothing about it at all.

Look in the forums sign, scroll down until you see the right section,re post in there, take it back,as i bet the 4wd system is broke, expensive to fix.it will cost more than the car, possibly, depending on the issue.

Ok I don't think I will get my money back unfortunately thank you for your advice

As said, he's took the prop off because the VCU is knackered. If you have any doubts about the MOT you can contact VOSA for advice. Remove the rose tints NOW before you start chucking money at it, and get it looked over. Sorry but I'm not from Sheffield do can't help with regards to mechanics.
Go to the introduce yourself section and do that, you might get somebody message you locally who can take s look at it in return for cake.

Ask him why it was removed,if he says for fuel economy,it might be worth taking a chance on replacing the rear prop, but i would not bet on it being the gen reason, good luck anyway, let us know the results of this if you would.

Then I expect you may be stuck with it. You could always tell him that you are going to query the MOT, he might start being more compliant. Was it on eBay?
No It was on gumtree quite local to me. I have thought about taking it to the mot station it was passed at and see what they have to say
