We have a Defender 200tdi that has been booked in for a total restoration !!!!!!
Now we have to decide what to do with her do we go for an original look or make lots of changes ?
I think i want to keep it close to stock but can anyone recomend some useful upgrades and looks

Hi and welcome!

The best upgrade is a galvanised chassis, and a decent bulkhead too. Personally, I’d keep it looking more standard. If the original paintwork is okay, I’d keep it. There are lots of subtle improvements you can make without lots of bolt-on tat. Something like new steel wolf wheels makes a big improvement to looks. And I’d definitely not paint it in that raptor stuff! But it’s your Landy, go with what you like.

Thanks for your input - it will be having a galvanised and powder coated chassis and new bulkhead and i agree some of the paint jobs just are not right for an old girl like ours

Hi Knappster - I was thinking of going with Mach 5 Alloys ( my suspension is lifted by 3-4 inches) with Toyo Mud Tyres (Something which balances Mud performance and road noise). I have Wolf Steel wheel on mine (they need refurb) - What tyres would you stick on Worf Steels and would you get them powder coated (I would like Black wheels)

Hi and welcome
I've never heard of powder coating galvanised steel! Personally I wouldn't bother as you can't effectively repair when it gets chipped. Paint would be simpler but you need to prepare the surface properly

Don't I feel a moron - shows you my level of knowledge of power coating (It looks pretty) - painting is easier :)

Welcome Aboard. :)

Powder coating is a waste of time IME, worse than underseal for holding water - save your money.. spend it on a galv BH - you'll thank me later ;) :D
