Hi to All
After many, many years I've finally taken the plunge and got myself a Land Rover Defender 90 Pick Up.
I'm originally from the North West in the UK but have been living here in the Caribbean for more than 30 years. I've had many different vehicles .....currently got an Alfa 156, Audi A8 and crashed Subaru Forester Stb. Unfortunately all these are non runners (long stories) hence the Landy........

As a new user with no "owners manual" LandyZone has been invaluable in getting me started ..... learnt how to operate the transfer lever from the site ......big thanks.

The Landy is "rough and ready" but pulls like a train, stops on a sixpence has unexpectedly good steering and is a dream to guide along the road (I really don't think you "drive" it .....that's way too mundane!

Big thanks to you for the advice and for the jokes.
This is certainly a user friendly site......

Welcome:)

Wow that’s a “marmite” colour. But it does look good;)
Enjoy it and trawl around for manuals plenty out there to download for free.

Parts not so easy where you are I guess.

Enjoy it :)

Petrol? :)

Check tech section in defender section for manuals. Transfer box working not stuck is good sign, never occurred to me someone wouldn’t know how to use one? Guess it’s not on the syllabus, hopefully you won’t need it ;)

Thanks big time for your reply
Appreciate the feedback
My Forester was pushed off the road into a brick wall by a luni
And their insurance won't pay out!
Anyway every silver lining has a problem so I'm with a Landy

Claim off your insurance stating the other party caused it and were at fault. It is up to your insurance company to pay up and claim off the other party if they are at fault.

Unfortunately I'm in a different jurisdiction so the logic is not necessarily supported.
If the other party just ignores the letters and you know the legal costs will be more than the repairs ....what do you do?

Well it may be novel to some of you guys but we actually do use 4WD to generally get around. My access drive is very steep and I needed the quattro on the Audi to get it out.
Often we go out in the country for a "cook up" and that means going through rivers and boulders to get to the site.
Now my Forester had 7.5 inches of ground clearance and huge power reserves so I could get to most places but the Landy has so much more ground clearance and rock climbing power that it will be even better in the rough stuff ....just a shame it won't be able to do 125mph on the straights on the way home!
