hey guys , dont know if anyone can help , im new to owming a range rover (about 2 months) , ive not had a single problem since owning her ................until today , got in and turned the key and nothing , not a thing , checked everything i could , battery alternator etc etc but thats not the problem , and now im flummoxed . any ideas? someone suggested that i need to reset the key by turning it on and off 5 times , tried that but still nothing , please help!!!!
btw ive got a 4.6 holland and holland (2000)
cheers , rich

btw , i dont know if this helps , but im not getting a sound when i try and start her , no clicking , which makes me think could it be something to do with the immobilazer??

nope , i get all the dash board lights , it just doesnt do anything , its like its dead , but the battery and alternator is fine.all the windows and sunroof work, im really at a loss

there are two kinds of nothing:

1, no lights, no radio, no clicks and the dash msg centre goes totally blank when tring to start signifying dead battery. these cars need a battery in near perfect condition. get yours tested.

2, is when there is plenty of power but you havnt selected N or P on the gearstick or the car needs the EKA code entering, or something is not connecting the starter motor electrically for whatever reason.

does the dash say anything like engine disabled, press remote, key code lock out, windows not set, sunroof not set? check as you turn ignition on!

info on eka code here

i think the gear position is a blinder when it gets you, i pushed minr to the roadside when it stalled due to the gas system bieng set up incorrectly. feckin heavy, had battery off, in with key code, nothing. then 30 mins later i realised it was in D. put it in p and it fired straight away!

i did it with a 02 grand vitara, sat in the mota on the phone to local dealer arranging for recovery of said piece of crap to get it looked at then realised it was in D waht a plonker

i was at the end of my road on the way to work!!!

ive done it in a manual too, sat there revving it and wondered whey there is no movement and no engine noise!!! it wasnt till the wife reminded me that you have to press the clutch and put the car in to gears yourself that i realised i had stalled and forgot to press the clutch at the junction!!!

feckin peasant car!

funny thing is i thought 'this engine is quiet but the fecking clutch has gone, i think'

its a 95 plate omega estate 2.5 v6, best 350 quid car ive ever owned, at that price it gets some real hammer and still sits there all obedient and willing to please!!!

whats the OP doing, hope he's feckin reading these tips! could have the decency to feckin reply!

you have to strip the bejesus out of it to get to the plug leads on the coil pack for one side

unless of course you can slot a small child in ther!

it also has a tiny crappy valve back there that usually breaks when you change the plug leads, its interchangeable with one at the front of the engine tho!!

it is a really good engine tho the gm v6, apart from the breathers clog and blow the rocker gasket which costs around 7 quid and takes years to install!

I heard that one of the GM transverse V6 motors had to have the injun extracted to get to the rear bank of plugs, coz it is so close to the bulkhead.
