my pal was driving home from work in his 300tdi today and when he come to change gear the clutch pedal went to the floor and stayed there.we towed it home and had a quick look but couldnt see anything physically wrong.the master cylinder is still full but when you work the pedal there is no resistance at all. we also checked for bubbles in the fluid but no sign. any suggestions would be very appreciated before he goes and buys the wrong parts. thanks in advance!

i put a new slave cylinder on my discovery last week and as i was bleeding it the clutch pedal did the same thing, go to the floor and stay there. i used the self bleeding kit to bleed it but even with this it took two atempts at bleeding it before it was right. try bleeding it first as the slave cylinder might be letting air past the seals ? they aint dear so if that fails change the slave cylinder and get yaself a self bleed kit.

i will strip it down tomorrow after work and see what its like but im pretty sure it had the slave cylinder replaced about 8 months ago! its probably a cheap replacement or just had new seals so will most likely replace the complete cylinder
