Help removing thermostat housing on a 90

Hi Ive been lurking around the forum for a long time, abusing the search button mainly

But I've ran into a problem and cant find a clean answer.

My thermostat housing has starting leaking, i need to remove and redo the gasket.
What is the best way on going about this, it looks like the 3 bolts wont come out without hitting the housing infront of them.

if its tdi bottom bolts just need loosening as housing is slotted

The housing isnt slotted

going to see if i can instant gasket it while its on because if not. gotta unbolt loads more

dont bodge it if it can be done properly it will only come back and bite you in the arse later.

what engine is it? a bit more info would help :welcome:

Ah bugger I completely forgot that bit

Its a 1990 defender. 2.5 turbo dies

This is my first landy incase you havent guessed
