Hi can anyone help

Range Rover starts but feels like a brake is stuck. Had this happen once before and tried a combination of turning the steering to unlock but can’t remember how to do it. As it is will go through gears but literally won’t move.

Thanks in anticipation

Hi revs are fine it’s as if the handbrake isnstuck on but it isn’t. It must be some sort of electronic brake. Forgive me I’m not very technical

Does yours have the electronic parking park or do you still have the lever?

So does it rev up a bit then struggles like a manual car pulling away in 5th from a standstill, or do the revs just rise with no hesitation (as if you are revving it in neutral/park)?

Have you tried pushing/towing it to see if it will move?
What Saint is trying to establish is whether its lack of drive or brakes stuck on.
Put it in reverse blip the throttle hard for a second and tell us how high the rev counter goes. (make sure nothing behind you!
Better still, post a video whilst doing it of the rev counter so we can see whether it's trying to drive or not.

Will have to do it in the morning. Had to come in now as no doubt annoying the neighbours. Supposed to be out at 5 am. Thanks for help. It feels like it wants to move but somethings stopping it. It’s happened before and there was a sequence of steering wheel turns that seemed to clear it

If I wasn't on a plane to Spain in the morning for work, I'd bob over for a look, my units only in Standish so pretty close.
If you're still stuck by the end of the week let me know and I'll try to nip over for a look.

Straining at the leash is how it feels. Good description
Right, OK - so it is not a lack of drive that seems to be holding it back - it could indeed be stuck handbrake shoes.

If yours still has the traditional handbrake lever, does it feel loose, as if there is nothing attached to it and it just goes up and down with no resistance, or does it still 'spring' down and ratchet up with resistance as normal?

Hmmmm,

I would be tempted to take a close look at the brake pads.....when were they last changed? if they get so low (and no sensors were fitted on replacement) they can slip between the caliper and the disc and lock up.

Also be good to check the condition of the rear handbrake shoes in the hub, I was surprised when I went to look at mine due to low handbrake efficency, and the friction material had cracked and split to a point that chunks had fallen off.....luckily for me the chunks never jammed against the shoe and the drum, lord knows what would have resulted if it did!
