Have an annoying problem with my 2007 Freelander 2, what's new there then I hear many saying?
Just had the clutch sorted, new concentric slave fitted. Afterwards car went mad!
Loud thumping noise from the rear when accelerating, its as if you have gone over a large ridge in the road? This happens in both 1st and 2nd gear but doesn't seem to happen in the higher gears.
Also have a warning display stating that "special programmes are not available"
Driving me crazy, Only started after the clutch work was carried out.
Any help would gratefully received.
Many thanks

Hi Swain,

This is the section for those that are stuck / broken down in the wilds of beyond.
@blue beasty , can this be moved to the Freelander section please.

Hopefully @Swain Some other freelander owner will be along to help as they may have seen this before.

Cheers

No but I will have this looked at this coming weekend. Many thanks

This isn't applicable as its a F2.
People moan about the F1 - but if it was an F1 it would be simple to sort out. As its a F2 (or probably any Haldex vehicle) it could be a nightmare!

As the car knows somethings wrong, ie its displaying an error message, I think the first thing to do is plug it into a diagnostic reader and see what error codes come back. It might help.

I'm not sure what ECU will be throwing the codes though - so don't just stick a £5 ODBII reader on it - I'd get a LR dealer to do a full diagnostic read on it with the full kit.

I'd also be very wary about driving the car as it could trash the Haldex and/or the rear diff - I say this with zero experience, just a bit of common!

Need a proper diagnosis carried out on car but I'd suspect Haldex is the issue and potentially unrelated to the clutch change

However that's just guessing without a proper diagnosis being carried out
