Hi guys, can anyone help me with the oil cooler's fan switch please?, not the ESR4330 cos that's for the warning lamp, there is a second switch which commands the electric fan not listed in microcat... i made serious research and found nothing clear:(

There is no fan for the oil cooler.

The AC fans can be activated on the V8s by the BECM to provide additional cooling for the engine. They are near the oil cooler, but below it.

I don't think there is a switch for this though, (Unless you fit Datatek's mod). They are switched on by the BECM when the coolant gets very hot.

Warning lamp? What warning lamp?? Only seen one thermostatic switch on my DHSE and that's for the fan.

Hi, My DHSE also have two switches/sensors of the near side of the oil cooler for information, so I think its standard

Sensor on cooler brings up "Gearbox overheat" message if temp gets to high. Mine doesn't have the fan so don't know about any other sensor.

On 1999 and on there IS a fan for the oil cooler. Fed from fuse 28 (30AMP) and switched by relay 2.

So, on my 96, one sensor, on my 2000 2 sensors and of course the fan. :)

:)that's it m8, this is a 2000 too, i'm interested in the second sensor which is for fan controll(it doesnt appear in microcat), cos as i said the other(ESR4330) is for the transmission oil overheat warning(it's not my car i'm trying to help a friend that's why i said lamp;))

The sensor is a normally open switch that closes at 95 +- 3 degrees to ground pull circuit on relay 2. Look at relay 2 and fuse 28. 30 AMP.

Thanks, i've checked the circuit and everything, the problem is that the switch is fubar'd(blocked closed) so need a new one, now it's unplugged as when it's plugged in the fan is working all the time

Ok have looked but can't find it on any parts screen. Microcat is down at the moment. It maybe the same switch as the overheat one. Does it look the same?

Don't think it's the same temperature rating as the overheat one Tony as the fan comes on with no overheat message. Unless of course the over heat sensor is fecked:rolleyes:

Ok it was worth a punt. Can't find any other than the sensor switch for the petrols and the one for the diesels on any parts list. Don't know what the overheat switch is rated at, but one for fans is as said before. It's mentioned in the autobox write up. ESR4330 and ESR4329 maybe the petrol ones acts sooner and they have used that for fan don't know for sure.

Thanks guys, i've been digging the web, microcats, etc for some time untill i asked and i couldn't find any info about that sensor either:( ... it's certainly different than the ESR4330, i'll ask my friend to remove it and make a pic as now it's in situ only unplugged

Figured it out, so for posterity if somebody has problems with the transmission oil cooler fan(2000+ modells) the part number for it's switch is NSC101060, the lh side sensor in the first pic
