Hi
Last night i went to collect my new car, an l322 3.0 td6 2004, the car had just over half a tank when i collected it which i thought was nice so drove home which was about 130 miles, all going well about half way home fuel needle hardly moved, just at the point the needle went below the halfway mark the car stalled and came up with injection fault on the display.i coasted off a slip road. Car turned over but wouldnt fire,i turned it on and off a few times and it spluttered into life but stalled when put in drive.Tried same again and it started and seemed to drive fine.Thankfully a petrol station was up the road so i filled it up as the previous owner kept saying he had always done. The rest of the journey was faultless.just wondered if anybody had experienced similar? Or had any ideas where to start fault finding?

Not up on the TD6 but if the tank is saddle shaped then it will have some sort of transfer plumbing in the tank to pull fuel from the other side.

Some vehicles it's an issue with the transfer plumbing coming adrift, and usually it's connected to the in-tank pump, but I've a dusty notion the TD6 has a couple of pumps in the tank.

You say the tank was reading just under half. Think 100l tank on yours.
How much fuel did you actually put in?
Does the gauge drop to zero with ignition off, there’s a little glitch where if it has been disconnected in correctly at some point the gauge could read in correctly. (Don’t know anymore than that it’s just a warning in the manual)
Yes 2 pumps but on the early 322s 1 inside 1 outside.
Newer had 2 inside.
2 level sensors as well

You do yourself a favor and search for a manual they are around if you search.

Thanks for the replies, had a look under the rear seats and removed the cover on the passenger side it did look to have a lot of fuel in,i pressed the gauge float down and the fuel gauge went to quarter of a tank then back up when released.would it be likely it might be the in tank pump? Do these have swirl pot?

You never said how much fuel you put in ?

And yes supposedly they have swirl pot. And 2 fuel gauges.

It was just under half when it stalled i put £30 in which put it at just over 3 quarters of a tank.wasn't sure if the swirl pot is part of the tank.i had a vectra ages ago which had a similar problem,it turned out to be a crack in the swirl pot
