HELP my disco has died !!!!!!!!!!!

I have a 1996 discovery 300tdi, It starting making a noise from the gearbox area at biting point or when changing some of the lower gears. Now it has died ! I thought it jumped into low range because it would drive slowly with high revs, now it wont drive at all, you can change all through gears with no clutch and the engine still runs ???? Has the clutch gone ? Is the transfer box knackard ? i dont know what to do ? the clutch fluid is still full though ???

incidentally similar thing happened to our Disco, turned out to be the main shaft between g/box & t/box had gone.
