hi all

i have a range rover with sand colour leather and there are marks on it places but when i try and clean them even with just warm water the colour appears to come off the leather. Does anybody know if there are special liquids etc... that are meant for cleaning the oxford leather in these cars.

Thanks

Matt

Matt when you say sand color is it cream? I know a guy who does leather work will drop him a line and see what he recomends.

Don't use water warm or cold !!!!!
Google a company called Buffalo who do leather cleaning kits.
I first found them on Ebay and used them on my 15 year old Merc to tart it up for sale. It worked a treat, and I bought some of their leather scent spray. Sold the car to the first punter! When I changed to a Rangie and tripped over this one with a full Connolly leather interior (in a bit of a state) I went back to Buffalo and got a heavy duty cleaning kit. The dirt just lifts out and then they do repair kits.
Sorry that this seems like a bit of an advert but water on car leather can be long term BAD NEWS.

You can get something called "Leather Food" at Debenhams or John Lewis. Takes a lot of patience and elbow grease but works fantastic and conditions the leather at the same time.

And Dogsbody, sorry but the "no water on leather" thing is a bit of a myth, IMHO. Saddle soap, for example, is used with water. And expensive designer leather jackets are finished and conditioned with water and steam. A great granny tip I got for cleaning leather once was to use Dove moisturising soap. Moisten a sponge, rub on soap, rub on leather, rinse sponge and repeat. The 1/4 moisturiser in Dove soap prevents the leather from cracking as it dries later.

This fellas a dab hand.........

matt, get some lether feed befor you start, putting anything on your seats. it will clean all the crap out of them, and make then nice and soft again..

been doing some research on the net and have come across this company, it seems to come highly recommended and apparently its the only leather care company/product recommended by the rolls royce car club. Just wondering if any one on here had used it?

unscented baby wipes....dogs danglies and dont cause the leather to crack when drying, use em on my leather sofas as well as all my past cars with leather and they really do the job. also if the colour is coming off with just water its poss its had one of them cheap and nasty leather repairsa done..ie just spray over the old leather..lol if thats the case none of the leather cleaners will do any good mate.

hi guy's believe it or not but baby wipes that you get from asda for under a pound cleans the seats brilliantly.

hi, been reading about cleaning leather in cars for the past few days and it says that baby wipes can be really bad for your leather at it contains a chemical that strips the natural oils out of the leather over time and thats what causes your leather to crack and fade.

im thinking of trying gliptone liquid leather system before paying hundreds to have a company try and sort it out, just wondered if any one else had used this product before?

thanks
