Has anyone ever had probs in getting a code reader to connect to read engine faults, Used the same code reader before with no probs tried another cheap mac tools one to but couldn't tell you if that would ever work any way,

Going to my local LR specialists saturday hopefully but worried they will have the same probs and my car is doomed !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes - I have a similar problem - I can see the ecu with my Faultmate but cannot connect to it.... I can connect to the BECM etc just not the engine ECU - I thought it could be a wiring issue (there is in fact only two wires between the OBDII and the ECU) but as the Faultmate can see the ECU it can't be a wire issue. Mine has LPG, which means that there is another ECU running in parallel - I am wondering if this is affecting things....

I would suggest trying to find someone (Independant or Dealer) to put the Testbook on it - if you are going to the Dealer on Sat, they will be able to confirm. Crossing my fingers for you.

Going to independant specialists sat, been before but not sure what they have think it mite be rovacom by just looking at pic's

Take it you havent fixed yours, my prob is that the car cuts out random i was on the side of the road an hour away from home last weekend.

Any ideas how much a dealer would charge to try and read it.

Well mansfield 4x4 had no probs reading the fault codes but there wasn't any engine faults :frusty: so i'm no further forward :frown:

Main fuse box in engine bay. Dont arse around. Go see Duncan at Britcar down on the Brantham Mill Est and get a new one.

What happens to these fuse boxes i hear about it but had a good look about and it looks like new,

also any body ever had a prob with a crank position sensor on a td

trust me the fuseboxes are ****e! have recently changed mine, typical problem of relay 7 burning out- took it out and the fusebox board was burn to a crisp!

mmmmm you could be right it smells burny and under relay 7 and on the bottom of the board where one of the block connectors goes under relay 7 its like this

theres two different types for the diesels and quite few more on the petrols. have a look on rimmerbros.co.uk, i got mine from lrseries.com if i remember right then its about £140ish with postage.

Speak to Duncan at Britcar the link is for a petrol box but I am sure a diesel will be similar. Duncan is nice fella and will surely do you a good price. Out of interest he used to own Mansfield motors at Manningtree (Duncan Mansfield) but had a fall out with his partner and started Britcar.
