Posted a couple of messages in the "Green Laning in Sawtry thread" but seemed to be going a bit off topic so thought I'd resume in here and introduce myself! I'm Reuben and I live near Bourne in Lincolnshire.
I've no experience at all in driving off road- I'm a complete novice but very enthusiastic and keen to get stuck in- so if there's anyone in the area it'd be good to meet up and start learning!
But here is my dilemma.... I'm about to replace my astra estate and I want something to get me started in the world of off-roading, but it's going to be my only car so it needs to:
Have a decent mpg and reasonable on road handling- I commute 60 miles every day,
Be reliable and go on for ages!
Have reasonable insurance- I'm only 22.
Have decent interior space (and 5 doors)- room for the dog in the back etc!
Budget - £8000.
Can't think of anything other than an X-trail 2.2dci that fits the bill, but obviously it's not the MOST capable off-road. Any suggestions?
