Hi. I have just purchased a 2002 Discovery Td5 manual as a project for myself and my 16 year old son. Working through the mot fail list. This site has proved invaluable. We have fixed the 3 amigos. Currently working on srs short to ignition drivers airbag. Then 2 Rh ball joints to do.

Failed MOT on 3 Amigos (fixed). SRS light on. Still working on this. 2 offside ball joints (next job). Wiper blades (done). Sidelight (done). Headlight aim (done). Twisted brake hose (done). Chassis is rusty but ok. It had a running issue. Lack of power over 3000rpm/ engine cutting out. Fitted a spacer to crank sensor today and now it runs and revs freely.
Not too bad for £1400.

Managed to finish ball joints today. Not too bad on the driveway and with a 60 quid bay tool.
Just the chassis to scrape and clean off. Treat with aqua steel and re-underseal.
I will then be a happy bunny.

Well MOT passed yesterday ( 1 advisory.....oil leak ). Took for a spin on the motorway today and it pulls like a train.
I originally bought from a sales lot who had had it diagnosed as worn dmf catching crank sensor. I test drove it and had no power going up hill.
Did a bit of research and fitted a spacer and replaced missing o ring on the sensor.
It now goes well. :):):):):)
