Hello guys well im very interested in the landrovers so i decided to join the forum (trying to convince dad the 90 defender is the way to go )

So yeah im 16 and hopefully passing my driving test next year, i know i probley wont be able to get a landrover (all my mates think im mad for liking them lol ) but i simply use the phrase 'yeah but i can get anywhere in a landrover' lol anyways thought id join and gather up some infomation.... so here i am now... Im based in the northeast (durham) and ive seen a couple of nice landrovers in my g/f's street... but unsure of any offroad centers up here

Hope all is well and thanks for lisening

ho ho ho

Seriously though there are some bargains about and some complete rubbish as well-if you do want a project look hard and spend wisely.

get a cheap series 111 to start with as your insurance will be best that way....

I've done that and don't regret it. Costs me £1K in insurance where as a defender is nearer £2.5K (i'm 17 by the way).

All me friends think i am crazy right till i take them off roading (then they think i'm a complete nutter) :D

so guys you would recomend the series 3 then ?

Is there no way at all i could get maybe a 94 defender? how much insurance would i be looking at ?

Insurance depends whether you are named driver or on someone elses, look on fleabay and find a couple of landys that you like take the reg from the picture and do a price comparison website search (confused.com gave me my best quote with the post office)

Series rovers are quite agricultural in comparison to a defender (thats saying something) and i went for a series 3 as they tend to be the cheaper ones, as well as getting the synchromesh on all gears and a 5br engine.
