HI ALL,

I HAVE HAD MY TD4 FOR A YEAR NOW AND AM CONCERNED WITH THE AMOUNT OF JOBS I'VE HAD DONE ON IT.

ITS AN 04 PLATE, DIESEL 2L SE.

ITS NEEDED A FRONT WHEEL BEARING REPLACED. A REAR SUSPENSION JOINT REPLACED (DONT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE CALLED, ALL I KNOW IS THAT THERE IS THREE OF THEM, AND IT WAS THE FRONT OF THE THREE THAT WENT:confused:). AND LAST WEEK A NEW DIESEL PUMP! MY LOCAL GARAGE, WHO ARE NOT LANDROVER SPECIALISTS, SAY THESE ARE COMMON JOBS ON A LANDROVER, AND EXPECT MORE OF THE SAME!!! IF THIS WAS TRUE I WOULD HAVE TO GET RID OF IT.:(

I TOW A CARAVAN WITH IT, AND IT TOWS WELL. AND AM LOVING THE LANDY DRIVING EXPERIENCE.:D

I WAS WONDERING WETHER OR NOT WHAT MY LOCAL GARAGE HAS SAYS WAS A TRUE EVALUATION OF THE TD4 IN GENERAL AND WOULD APPRECIATE YOUR EXPERIENCES. MY BROTHER IN LAW NOW OWNS ONE FOR THE LAST 6 MONTHS AND HAS NO PROBS, BUT THEN HE DOESN'T TOW. COULD IT BE THE EXTRA STRAIN OF PULLING??

PLEASE HELP

LYN

First bit of advice dont SHOUT ;)

All cars will suffer from wear and tear and yes towing will help things along with more stresses applied but this will happen to any car you use. Have a search in the freelander section and you will find common faults / fixes which could help you decide whether to keep it sell it or even burn it :p

:welcome2: to lz

I say ol' chap. Would you mind awfully not shouting? You are starting to wake the inmates

:welcome:
If, after a year, you have only replaced a wheel bearing, front diff mount and now a pump, then you have got off very lightly. Consider yourself lucky and enjoy the true Landrover experience.

Or at least as close as you can get in a Hippoo.

All Landrovers require more maintenance than you might expect & what you've had done doesn't sound bad at all, especially for a tow car. You will probably face more issues the longer you keep it but you could buy a nice Toyota & end up far worse off, luck of the draw. The trick is to read up on all the possible faults on this forum, do as much as you can to prevent or regularly check the known areas & accept that Landy ownership can sometimes throw a few curve balls.
