Hi to all. Just following forum best practice and introducing myself before launching into questions and answers. As mentioned in 'title', I am a new member with a difference. The difference being that I am totally blind. Now, I can imagine some of the comments following the lines of 'how can you carry out work on a Land Rover without any sight', 'It is impossible to do that without sight' etc etc. Yes, it is difficult at times, easy at others. The fact that I was a qualified mechanic prior to losing my sight helps enormously, but my determination not to be stopped doing what I love doing best is the main driver. Nevertheless, certain elements do pose problems and at those times I enlist the help of a friend or relative, but in the main I work alone. The most problematic issues are when coming across an unfamiliar system or configuration that, in workshop manuals, is mainly described with photos and no written commentary. In those cases I then need to ask what might normally be considered as 'stupid' questions to understand the system/configuration. The old saying 'a picture speaks a thousand word' is not really helpful to me, although I would agree with this if I could actually see a picture. So, that is what essentially makes me 'different' on this forum and I hope that everyone will excuse me in future posts if I ask those 'stupid' questions? All the best - JG
