I have a Discovery2 2004 Landmark. Recently the brakes have gone hard to push down and difficult to stop without standing on the brakes.
The callipers are all fairly new (last year and genuine Land Rover parts) and pad and disk are in good condition again renewed end of last year.
It seemed to start gradually, brakes working well then hard to brake then working again to the point they don't seem to have at assistance at all.
Is there anyway to isolate the problem? and determine what part is required
All help appreciated. Thanks

Is it possible to pump the vacuum away? If you were to brake when it's good and then brake again do you always find it hard? Similarly if you were to brake say once every minute is it always good? I'm just wondering if the vacuum pump is not performing well or there is a slow leak on the reservoir.

pull the vac pipe away from servo with engine running if you place a finger over the pipe end,you should feel quite a suction from vac pump if pump is working, its more likely pump than servo

I don't know which pipe you mean to pull away

No the brake pedal is hard all the time If I pump the brakes it makes no difference

I have found the problem the tee piece has snapped off so the hose to servo is not connected It felt for suction at broken tee piece and it was strong. So now next problem is how to get this repaired as I can't find any place that stocks tee pieces or the hose
