has anybody wired their heater plugs through a relay and button?
I have a Disco 300Tdi in a 110 but my heater plug light has never worked, so I thought I might wire a standard relay with a push button instead of the timer relay.
Any advice?

I did on my old S3 with a diahatsu diesel .
Just count to 10 in the summer and 20 in winter. Timers are not required.
Keep it simple.

Use a button that you have to keep pressed to make the circuit. No risk of leaving it on or someone putting it on by accident.

Check the spec of your plugs, my NGK plugs only need 6 seconds, winter or summer, in fact the seasons shouldn't matter, a timer relay doesn't know now cold it is outside! Plugs will soon burn out if you give them too long energised, then you go down the slippery slope of thinking they need more and more time when in fact they are getting more and more knackered.
Ive had mine on a switch for the past ten years, I think my relay is only 70 amp, check your plugs specs.
