Heater blowing hot then cold?

Hi all

new to this and on my 1st landy - g reg (1989) 90 2.5td

done about 700miles and all fine then - heater blows cold and temp gage goes to high - 2mins later temp normal and heater blows hot again - keeps doing it all the time every few min's

air lock? - if so how and why?

No water loss - level ok and no leaks that i can see

help appreciated

Thermostat perhaps?

You can test them by pulling it out and boiling it in a pan, if it opens befor the water boils then its ok.

air lock, thermostat, weak water pump, headgasket.

It sounds like you have air in the system. Your heater won't put out hot air if their is no coolant to get the heat from. The temp guage will also read higher at this point as steam is hotter than coolant.

If it is very sudden changes in temp I'd put my money on the waterpump.
