Prepping for the big headlining removal and associated works to sunroof etc. and the strip and replace of the saggy headlining. Have samples from Martrim to best match the existing, but have seen photos of black trim and think it looks quite good. Has anyone gone for this, as my only fear is that it may be a bit oppressive given I already have black leather and carpets etc... would appreciate any feedback for those that have done it.

I considered black in my 110, though as you feel, I felt it could be a bit oppressive. So decided to go for a charcoal grey instead, still dark but should be less oppressive!

I have a black headling in my D1, it is only painted but it looks ok (imo), pulled the headliner shell out, stripped off the cloth and foam, wire bushed it clean then sprayed the carcass/shell with satin black. Haven't noticed any unusual feelings/apparitions since doing it 5 years ago, and it sure beats that "hangy" look of the original mess.

And when it leaks, it'll be just like driving with the sunroof open on a rainy day too.
Yep, I see your point exactly, I read in these pages many folk having problems with a leaky sunroof in their Disco, and I wouldn't have one as a gift, (sunroof that is), over here in NQ open top/sunroof equipped cars make you feel like you are sitting in an oven. Biggest influence on choosing a car, the BOSS LADY asks, "how effective is the a/c?"

Painted mine in grey household paint. Looks mint installed

Can always rely on the valuable and considered views of this forum!!!

Leopard print, no... doesn't match with my Zebra print brouges.

Blue sky and fluffy clouds, no, every time I saw it I'd start humming "The Simpsons...."

Paint, possibly..... probably once I screw-up the glue and fabric....

yes, the google search pictures are the ones that got me thinking.....

stuck with the 2 sun roof (automated rain powered refreshment systems) but those are getting 300cc of Tiger Seal as part of the overall upgrade / de-sag project.

Appreciate all the views and the craic....

I'll post the outcome in the form of a picture once done!

Wifes new to her car has black roof lining i quite like it, doubt it would be oppressive in such a large airy car as the disco, modern stuff with small windows maybe,

Rolls Royce offer a starlight option which seems to be a myriad of small leds stuck randomly in a black headliner.

If you fancy black then go for it. May seem strange initially but you'll soon get used to it.

I did think of some additional lights (not necessarily the Crab Nebula) but was looking for those focused beam lights you get for reading, thinking maybe of looping a couple of LED fittings into the existing circuit on a separate switch for the back seat occupants.

I also plan to remove mine and replace with new one (light grey) next week. Anyone has any experience with adhesives? Does spray adhesive do the job or I would need something else (I plan to use Berner spray adhesive).

Putting my faith in the adhesive supplied with the cloth from Martrim.... trust that as it's supplied from the trimmer it's suitable. Heard lots of sad tales of adhesive failing in the heat, or absorbing through the cloth to the surface and leaving marks.
