Ok guys , was working on the 72 rrc today and found it was dark and thought it would be a good time to test the lights

switch stalk at:
top=lights off -ok
middle=side lights -ok
bottom=no headlights-doh!

the high beam works on the other stalk as it should.

any ideas???

I cant imagine both bulbs have gone at the same time but will check.

fuse :rolleyes: bad earth :rolleyes: do a search :rolleyes::D

what would you suggest I do a search for? "ultra early classic headlights" :p

bad earth , where is it for the lights?, ther is only 3 fuses on the whole car I think, is one for the headlights? wouldnt that cut the sides too?

I had to change both bulbs on my truck a couple of weeks ago, both blew same time, I spent 2 days looking for a problem that didn't exist.
Check the bulbs.

just being sarcastic for a change ;)
sounds like a dodgy switch to me but ****! what do i know about rrc's apart from i get sea sick riding in um :rolleyes:

lol , thanks guys, I have a spare pair of bulbs if I can find em and also a spare switch on 79 parts car, so hopefully this may work out. I will add it to the list of jobs lol

I just want to get started on the welding, oh for the time and weather :doh:

High beam working as it should indicates the switch is doing what it should (if the high beam stays on)
Exactly what my truck was doing. Sidelights OK, No headlights, Main Beam OK.

its a different stalk,switch for the high beam is on one and the lights 123 is on another , its like stalk city on that column lol.

does your theory still stand hammy?

Ye cos the main beam wouldn't come on and stay on if the light switch wasn't sending the right lives to the relays to keep the main beams on.
If its only the flash that works, no, theory junked but if main beam stays on, theres half a chance.

Is it a sealed beam or a H4?
If its H4, try what I said, sealed beam???????? who knows but good luck changing a bulb lol.

Cam and lifters are the new ones fitted 700 miles ago, still haven't really quietened down but it just 1 bank (drivers) and just a couple of em tapping. Now and then, they even go quiet :D

dont think its sealed beam but can put my spares in to check.

h4 has both filaments in then?

try some nice stp or summit in yer oil , might make it quieter

Ye, H4, 2 Filaments.
Will try STP eventually, still not done the head gasket yet but I'm getting round to it lol.
One of those things that'll never get done as long as it runs without any problems but when it does break down, watch it be hundreds of miles away lol.

yup, I hear that, can of stp is only 3.99 on ebay so it will be the easy part of the job. could chuck some k-seal in there too, worked on mine!

k-seal wouldn't work. The head gasket is blowing out of the side, cooling system is strangely spot on, no overheating, no lost coolant, no pressurising, only an exhaust type blow between the head and the block.

Should be done this week although remember what I said about work picking up and not having as much time? Guess what lol.

I agree about the work , tryna grab a few mins today to take the door off the 72!

you h/g bollixed on the brown truck too k-man?
