Hi all I have a need for some advice, I came down to my disco a couple of weeks ago to find that some kind and helpful person had a greater need for my headlights than i did. It is the facelift model. after much ringing around for prices I now have a new set fitted and just getting the finishing trims sprayed, What I was wondering is can anybody recommend some form of security that works to prevent or at least slowdown deter thieves, as Im worried they will be back for this set as well, and I really cant afford to replace them again, Many thanks in advance Darren

Gutted for you.. expensive things to replace as well :( .. I'd really like to catch these theaving ---!

I'm curious as to exactly how they got the lamps out, surely they cant be much use to someone if they've had to snap the brackets to get them out

Lamp gaurds may deter them, or give them something else to try and pinch, I did spot Landrover Discovery 2 facelift headlight security bars. Not grills. | eBay

£39.95

Seems a tad bit pricey for what they are but if they work then its money well spent (If they managed to remove your headlights without getting to the bolts, exactly how would this stop them) I prefer light gaurds myself.

Lets see.. Get a dog, park facing a brick wall, lamp guards, cable ties or extending the alarm system with additional sensor for each headlamp.

And :welcome2: to the Forum

+1 ^^^ and i did it myself for a friend, i used 2 bonnet switch wired in parallel with the existing one and improvised brackets from alloy plate as to hold the switch to the back of the lamp... when the lamp is moved the switch closes and the alarm goes off this way

Thanks for the replies, they just pull/lever them out and twist according to the police it is common thing along with defender bonnets, a 2minute job, i have the dog, wall etc camera and security lights, which is a deterrant at home if nothing else but not really practical for when out and about, tehy are really badly designed and land Rover want a kick up the backside. what I was hoping for was a decent physical barrier, guards that people have used that actually work, Ive seen the bars on ebay but am not convinced that they offer much protection. Maybe the car will have to go.
thanks again Darren

my mate had that with his chrome grill a few years ago , so on the new one he glued razor blades around edge pointing back so when the scrote pulled the grill hay presto blood on bumper

We supply a kit to help protect your lights, easy to fit with no drilling, makes the lights extremely hard to remove. They are available from the land rover centre in Huddersfield or can be obtained directly from me. Will try and post some pictures later to show how they look.
