Head gaskets

Fitted new head gasket today filled the water up and its leaking water between the head and the block passenger side by the last 2 bolts by bulk head could it be a bad gasket

Have you tried re-torqueing and checked the sequence?

Yes but head could also be cracked or warped.
Did you check the head bolt hole where clear of debris and especially fluids?
Cannot tighten down against liquid will crack block.

I'm takeing the head off today and going to get a copp

I wouldn't say cracked as it's comeiñg out between both faces not the head I'll get it skimmed this week and checked while waiting for a copper gasket

I wouldn't get the head skimmed unless it is needed. Especially diesel, due to the swirl chambers, they are very hard, and shouldn't be flat with the head face.

Head can be cracked as well as gasket blowing, clean it up spotless and check between valves, and around swirls if a diesel.

Composite gasket is better than copper if available.

I cleaned the head spotless when I put it back on just strange it's comeiñg out between the 2 faces

Sure the gasket is blown, but that doesn't mean there arent cracks as well. Or head may be badly warped, check it, and the top of the block, with a steel straight edge.
Are you certain nothing got trapped, and held the head up proud of gasket? Swirl chamber, for example?

When you have removed the head, try and post some pics of it for us to look at. You may be able to see where the gas has been running over the face of the head when you remove.

I'll take some pics after when I get it off I'm thinking it could be something under it as all I did was fill the water up never started it and as I filled it it just came out the side

Sounds like you are on the right track, that shouldn't happen if head is sat down fully.

Right I got the head off and as you can see the gasket wasn't sitting over one of the core plugs and it was coming from there the gasket was put on with diesel facing upwards but on the old gasket it was turned round as to cover them sorry for the wait but pics wouldn't upload

The core plug shouldn't be leaking anyway?

I think the gasket should only be fitted one way up.

No cracking between the valves and around the swirl chambers, that is a good sign.

Not 'core plug', he means waterway under the word diesel on the gasket ...

The only way to get round it is turn the gasket it was on the other head off the doner enging and it was on the head of my truck

Can you get a replacement based on the number on the original gasket or take it to get a straight replacement as it's not correct ...

You need to get the right gasket, it wont seal up for long if you don't fit a new gasket the right way up.

Guessing the 14j is out of a taxi or something?
If it is going to work, the block and head need to have all the same holes, so get a gasket for the block should be ok.

It had the head off before I got it and had a 12 j head gasket on it and I'm struggling to get a 14 j head gasket

If I got a copper gasket could I turn that round and I only seem to get 2 and 1/4 gaskets not 2.5
