Well the dreaded head gasket has gone.. Burst a pipe on way home. Bodged it today till I can get a new one.. Car missing then lots of white smoke... .... Didn't over heat at all so gonna try sort it this weekend. Seen this on fleabay 120326335590.. It's close to me but is it worth it.. Its multilayered and comes with the stretch bolts.. Can anyone let me know.. Cheers guys

When you say it didn't overheat, do you mean the temp guage didn't go in the red. If so, I wouldn't trust that. They overheat well before the temp guage goes up. If it didn't overheat why did the HG blow.

I've used the company before and they are ok.. The temp went up on way to work this morning but not quite into red.. I topped coolant up.. Started her up.. There was white smoke coming from the exhaust. Its been using water for a while and I was expecting it to happen

Inspect the cylinder head - if there are rings that you can run a finger nail in, then the head has gone too soft and can't be re-used. There are companies that can reclaim softened cylinder heads though.

I've used DMGR spares, and been very happy with their service. I am going to try one of their "reproduction" BW750 gaskets on another engine project - so will see if these are up to snuff... :)
