Hi,

Can any one help me confirm the size socket needed to remove range rover 4.6 headbolts. I am using 16mm socket and broken 1 socket and started rounded a head bolt.

i used 16 on mine and was fine, use 6 sided not one of them other ones, dunno what they called but they got more and smaller contact faces!

Thanks for the advice I will get a 6 sided good quality socket tomorrow, as the 1 I have been trying with is a mutli sided type.

use also a long bar with the socket, preferably with a t bar to apply even sided rotational force with the smallest extension possible(if at all) well thats the text book method, i just put a bar on and pull like buggery but mine werent that tight really!

like gav said get the hax shaped socket i bought 2 draper ones a standard size and a deep one make sure you get half inch drive,also a decent 8 inch extension bar and get a breaker bar a 2ft one will do,like gav said the serated sockets are crap for jobs like that
