Brand new 2004 Freelander 1 1.8 owner looking for help already. This is my first Landy ! My hdc and tc comes on over 40mph, I've looked at the threads and I need to replace the brake light switch but don't know which switch I need and local dealer doesn't know either, one thread said XKB100170 and the other a completely different part number, please help and a guide on fitting would be so appreciated, thanks in advance.

Have a quick look at Rimmer Bros. my brake light switch for 2002 later td4 xkb100170 is different to the xkb100120 as the latter need a adapter cable. The first two relate to the freelander 1 while the last two relate to the MG. xkb100150

My 2005 (55) had the got the first one in the above pics. The replacement that I used looks more like the second but comes with a small cable and connector.

We bought a replacement switch the story I heard was the supplier changed the spec without bothering to tell anyone one, after having the two amigos. Since then it has worked fine. The switch comes with a wiring adapter which cost me more than the switch The connector is YMQ503280 on the bag (Made in Egypt!) Switch I think is second from the left with white plastic casing

Don't forget to disconnect the battery before replacing as this drain down the computer and reset the sensors. On the Haynes manual it mentions a secondary brake switch for cruise control switch. Also when refitting you will need to pull the lever part of the switch out after depressing the brake pedal.

Thanks so much for all the prompt replies, really appreciate it ! Hopefully I will get the right switch from your threads, I'm a complete novice but trying !
