Hi All just doing the front airbags on my 99DT. Did the first ok and it re inflated and the vehicle sat steady. Then changed the second, but this time instead of inflating the vehicle sat down. Very slowly rose up to ride height and now the compressor runs every 30 seconds and it is very slow to change height. It was fine before I did this work even with very worn air springs. Checked around the new bags for leaks but stuck now. Have I killed the compressor seal. If so where to get a rebuild kit Thanks Dean

Contrary to what you have said don't you think this is a leak? If after the first spring was done all was well then after the second it isn't, don't you think it's too coincidental for the seal to have died, at the same time?

Have checked around the top of the new springs with soapy water and no bubbles. Wondered if all this inflating has done the compressor. So tomorrow I need to spray all around the new airbags?

As usual Woogoo is making perfect sense. It worked before you touched it, it doesn't work now. You've done something! At least you were sensible enough to do the bags one at a time and try it in between so you're only looking at one bag. I'd be tempted to take that bag back out and examine it. It may be new but that doesn't mean it's perfect. You could even try putting the old bag back in but it's more likely that you've damaged the airline.

I'm with the guys, also check for the seal of the bag around the axle mount.

You could have a purely coincidental compressor reed valve failure, not the seal which fails progressively. The compressor has two of these flapper type reed valves and when they go its instant loss of compressor ability. Both have failed by now on my 125k 98 RR.

Check the airbag first, if it's Dunlop it may have a leak at the bead, like a tyre on a rim, where it meets the cap top and bottom. Arnotts are better because they are crimped and are much less likely to leak. The bladder may just need re-seating.

Thanks for all the help. checked this morning and the DT was still up on it airsprings! Have now done all four springs and checked for leaks. None at all and my pump is not running much either. Taken me longer to change the alternator belt!!
