Have I got a stiff one ......Steering Dampener ?

Hi All

Ive done a few searches but cant seem to find the answer.

Question: How Stiff should a steering dampener be ? I can move it in and out by hand but it is firm / hard.

The movement is smooth and doesn't feel notchy but it does take a fair bit of force ?

Im aware it needs to be firm but not having any thing to compare too how stiff should it be ?

It does need to be quite stiff. It stops. The steering wheel suddenly spinning out of you grip on uneven surfaces. Mostly needed for off road driving.

Yeah, it should be movable by hand, with some effort though. You're better with a stiff one than a soft one, as some women might say ..
