Think a new category for mods may be an idea - easier ways to do jobs, effective upgrades, lateral thinking and cheap ideas that work for "making the LandRover Experience a joy" (how's that for a www.landyzone.co.uk slogan??) ;)
Haven't ever seen anyone suggest this before but I've done it so I know it's effective and works.
Instead of using Series (6-piece?) door seals when rebuilding or replacing doortops or if you just don't want that draught in your offsidde ear try this fix:
Grind off the small lip (after removing the old seals) and fit one-piece 90/110 door seals (push-fit). That's it.Some door adjustment may be required but the benefits far outweigh the loss of originality. You don't even need to hire/buy a riveter so you save money here too!
If anyone else has done this mod can you let me know (here or by pm) as I've never seen it anywhere and my paranoia...... ;) More mods in new posts (hopefully not just by me)...

Not replying to my own post, just not starting unnecessasry threads!
Assuming you have nippled-balljoints in your steering (and if you don't, Draper do a cheap and adequate tap kit and nipples are cheap and increase the life ofyour b/js lots and nipples are cheap (well, greasy ones seem to be ;) ) - a bit of careful measuring and a drill-bit slightly larger than your grease-gun nozzle) will let you drill a hole behind your o/s front wheel which you can use (line up nipple by slight steering ajustments - far better than angled nipple that's a ba*tard to get to!) to grease that hard-to get-to bj.
Paddocks or Craddock do 6 nippled bj's (ok quality) for about £25 or QH (Quinton Hazell) for IIRC about £8-9each.

You need a set of wiresnips (or similar) for this.
Changing shoes, very narrow cable ties help me when changing shoes.Wrap them around slave cylinders (I use approx. 3or4mm wide ties)and tighten to force fluid back into master cylinder(but to prevent contamination just to hold pistons in place) to stop pistons being pushed out when changing shoes. When new shoes in place, just 'snip' the tie and pull it out of the way.
Hope these suggestions may be of some use to people - they've all worked for me. My next mod (as mentioned in several previous posts in other threads) is MkIIPolo heater matrix unit instead ofLR unit.Again, if anyone else can confirm these work I won't feel 'all alone' or try them and they work, please feel free to let me know...
If there are any engineers out there who find the above hints work and are able to do difficult sums and are interested in helping(50/50 split) on an idea/kit for preventing halfshaft breakages (know it works, can't do the sums!) please contact me. Not greedy or owt,but this idea is for sale as I want to help fund my LR addiction....
