Just bought myself a 2017 Discovery sport, how can I turn off the DRL and just have the front Halo lights on please
DRLs were made mandatory from 2011, so you can't turn them off. Some vehicles fitted with DRLs and made before 2011 had the option to turn off them off, but that option was removed from post 2011 vehicles, as they became mandatory.

we’re they?
Our 2011 L322 we had to switch in the software as it became mandatory to have lights on here a few years ago. In our case it’s just normal lights. Don’t know about separate DRLs

why? what’s the problem running them all the time anyway?

That's one of the few vehicles that use the dip beam headlights as the DRL, simply because it was designed well before DRLs were made mandatory across the board. Before 2011 only Canadian vehicles and some Scandinavian countries required them.

You'll find pretty much all modern vehicles now use separately bulbs to provide the DRL, although some do use twin filament bulbs in the main beam reflector, so to make the light distinguishable from normal dip beam.

And as of 2011, DRLs can't be turned off, as the vehicle wouldn't then be compliant with the regulations.

No problem, when I bought the car the picture showed halo lights on and looking at other LR's they also show halo lights on, thought they look better than ordinary lights????
