hello everyone, having stripped everything down to do the dreaded h/matrix o-ring i,m now looking at the ducting, how do you move this out the way without damaging anything.is there a knack?i,ve called it a day for now before i start losing my rag:)cheers craig

Take out the speedo binacle and cut the duct with a dry wall saw, it will then pull out easily. Re-assemble with duct tape. Yes seriously.!!!

If you have access to stainless cap screws (Allen key type), replace the crappy Pozidrive screw that holds the saddle clamp for the "O" rings with a M5 one, can't remember the length offhand..it's around 30 or 40mm. If you have not got it finished by next Friday I can bring a selection over or you can get them from Nutters Fastenings, Long Acre, Nechells..if you only want a couple, they will probably give them to you.

cheers lads thanks for the replies, not quite sure about cutting the duct but i have to admit i think its about the only way i,m gonna shift it.i have a few m5 bolts lying about somewhere.irishrover cheers matey for the offer of bringing them over,i hope to be driving this beasty around by then although i,m not gonna hold by breath.cheers by the way whats a dry wall saw:eek:

Bit like a file handle with a narrow wood saw blade stuck in it. You can also use a hacksaw blade, it's only thin plastic, won't shatter, quite flexible.
Advantage of using an allen screw is that you can use a ball ended allen key on it at an angle. The advantage will be clear when you come to remove the pozidrive screw that's currently fitted. Put a smear of washing up liquid or vegetable oil on the new "O" rings before you fit them. The book says use Caster Oil but nobody drinks the ****e nowadays !!

while i,m under there i,m been told theres a black block/electrical box that maybe damp through the o-rings leaking which could be causing my climate control/blowers not to work.wheres this box situated.any ideas

Theres no getting around cutting the duct unless you want to take out the dash.

Irishrover, I know why you'd want to replace with an allen key head but if you do you'd want to be really careful not to over-torque the fitting. I've seen pictures on RR.net of a guy who cracked off the lips on the matrix - major Ooopps!

Matter of common sense I would thing Spud !! Damn sight easier to access the cap head with a ball ended allen key than a pozidrive screw thats got the head fecked up and its a pain in the ass to get the screwdriver on properly !!
