Hiya, my 06 TD4 has recently developed a grinding noise which seems to be somewhere under the passenger footwell. It's just a noise, can't feel anything through the floor or pedals. Had the brakes checked at the weekend and it's not them. the front driveshafts, rear engine mount, front prop shaft and prop shaft bushes were replaced between march and June this year. Suggestions so far include wheel bearing or cv joint, any other ideas would be appreciated so I can pretend to know what I'm talking about when I take it to the garage. :)

if its a wheel bearing it should be noisier when cornering ie rh bend lh wheel ,does it do it all the time different in different gears ,under power or on overrun

Jack the suspect wheel up and try and move the wheel with one hand on the top and one on the bottom, like a push-pull kind of thing. That should tell you if you have any play in the bearing.
